A Week after Prednisone

September 24, 2016

So we went to the doctor today. After one full week of Prednisone. We had Josh’s urine tested at the hospital lab. The result came back and we were super happy.

It showed no more trace of protein in his urine, means his body reacts well towards Prednisone.

This first week was not so bad, apart from having to limit his liquid intake to only 500ml per day. After putting Josh on Prednisone for a week I noticed these changes on him:

1. Trouble Sleeping

My poor baby was restless in his sleeps. There was one or two days he skipped his nap time 😦

2. Big appetite

He was not really fond of food before. Eating time was so dreadful. But after taking his Prednisone, he started to show interest on food. Like wanting to eat this and that. He is not allowed to eat salt at all. So we really changed his diet. His food is so bland now. We only give sugar and honey on his food.

3. Better skin condition

Josh has always had eczema since he was a baby. The rashes was mostly on his fingers and toes. Poor baby wud scratch and scratch until they bleed. This one week I noticed that his eczema starts to heal and he din scratch that often anymore.

4. Weight gain

His doctor said that in the following week he wud gain weight and he wud have what they call ‘moon face’. It is part of his Nephrotic journey. He told me to take heart and just brace it.

I was just so happy that my baby is reacting well towards his medication. I hope we will get through this soon.

Josh after a week of Prednisone. Still his happy usual self.
